Inspired by our sister Jenny Do organization
Ao Dai Festival in San Jose, Califorina, Ao Dai Canada (ADC) was created in May 2016 and was officially registered a non-profit organization #270801219 on July 27, 2017.
We are a Toronto-based non-profit organization that focuses on empowering individuals to be uniquely strong and beautiful, while raising funds to support less fortunate populations in Vietnam's remote villages, children at-risk in third world countries and raising awareness against human trafficking. Maintaining a non-political and non-profit agenda, we aim to provide cultural and charitable opportunities for youth involvement. Ao Dai Canada's intent is to share the Vietnamese culture and traditions with the public, in an inclusive manner.
We welcome new participants, models, designers, and volunteers. Anyone who loves arts and culture, feel free to reach out to us. We would love to hear from you!
The Áo Dài is a Vietnamese traditional clothing, now most commonly worn by women but can also be worn by men. In its current form, it is a tight-fitting silk tunic worn over trousers. Áo means shirt, and Dài means long.
It symbolizes Vietnamese women and their traditional virtues of grace, beauty, gentleness, demureness and unquestionable devotion. Áo Dài Canada aims to modify these perceptions and empower the modern Vietnamese women to become a symbol of strength and kindness, each with her own beautiful and unique way to make a difference in the world.
